Pool Equipment, Automation, and Water Systems

Equipment Installation and Upgrades for Residential Pools

Pool equipment affects how your pool operates, how much it costs to run, and how much maintenance it requires. Pumps, filters, heaters, sanitizers, and control systems all play a role in pool operation. Upgrading outdated equipment or installing new systems can improve efficiency and reduce the time you spend on pool maintenance.

Fluidity Pool Designs installs and upgrades pool equipment for commercial and residential properties. We assess your current setup, recommend equipment based on your pool’s requirements, and handle installation. We’ve been working with pool equipment for over 15 years and install products from major manufacturers, including Pentair, and Jandy.

      Our Equipment Services

Here’s an overview of the equipment services we provide.

      Equipment Assessment

We evaluate your current equipment, pool size, plumbing configuration, and electrical capacity. We identify what’s working, what needs replacement, and what upgrades would benefit your situation.

      Equipment Sizing

Proper equipment sizing is important for efficient operation. We calculate requirements based on your pool’s volume, plumbing, and usage patterns rather than estimating.

      Installation

We install equipment according to manufacturer specifications and local codes. This includes proper mounting, electrical connections, plumbing integration, and system configuration.

      Automation Setup

For automation systems, we program schedules, configure remote access, and integrate all connected equipment. We provide training on system operation.

      Equipment We Install

We work with various types of pool equipment.

      Variable-Speed Pumps

Variable-speed pumps adjust motor speed based on demand, using less electricity than single-speed pumps. They run at lower speeds for routine filtration and increase speed when more flow is needed. Energy savings are typically 70-80% compared to single-speed pumps.

      Filters

We install cartridge, sand, and diatomaceous earth (DE) filters. Each type has different maintenance requirements and filtration characteristics. We help you select based on your pool size, debris conditions, and maintenance preferences.

      Heaters and Heat Pumps

Gas heaters warm water quickly and work in any temperature. Heat pumps are more energy-efficient but heat more slowly and are less effective in cold weather. We size heating equipment based on your pool volume, climate, and how you plan to use the heater.

      Salt Chlorine Generators

Salt systems convert dissolved salt into chlorine automatically. This eliminates the need to purchase and add chlorine manually. The salt concentration is low (around 3,000 ppm) and produces water that’s gentler on skin and eyes.

      Automation and Control Systems

Automation systems allow you to control pumps, heaters, lights, and other equipment from a smartphone app or control panel. You can set schedules, create scenes, and receive alerts. We install systems from Pentair, and Jandy.

      LED Lighting

LED pool lights use less electricity than incandescent lights and last longer. Color-changing options are available. Lights can be integrated with automation systems for remote control.

      UV and Ozone Systems

These supplemental sanitizers reduce chlorine requirements and kill pathogens that chlorine may miss. UV systems use ultraviolet light, while ozone generators inject ozone gas into the water.

      Chemical Automation

Systems that monitor water chemistry and add chemicals automatically to maintain proper levels. This includes pH controllers and ORP sensors.

      Water Features

We install pumps, plumbing, and controls for waterfalls, fountains, deck jets, bubblers, and other water features.

Not Sure What Your Pool Needs?

      Our Process

Here’s how we approach equipment installation and upgrades.

      Step 1: Assessment

We evaluate your current equipment, pool configuration, and electrical capacity. We discuss your goals, whether that’s reducing energy costs, simplifying maintenance, adding automation, or improving heating.

      Step 2: Recommendations

Based on the assessment, we recommend specific equipment matched to your pool and priorities. We explain the options, costs, and expected benefits.

      Step 3: Proposal

We provide a written proposal showing what we’ll install, where the equipment will be located, and itemized pricing.

      Step 4: Scheduling

We schedule the installation at a convenient time. Most equipment upgrades take 1-2 days. Larger projects may take longer.

      Step 5: Installation

Our crews install equipment according to the manufacturer’s specifications. This includes secure mounting, proper electrical connections, correct plumbing, and adequate clearances.

      Step 6: Programming and Training

For automation systems, we program schedules and configure remote access. We walk you through system operation and answer questions.

      Step 7: Follow-Up

We check in after installation to ensure everything is working properly. We’re available for questions and warranty support.

Isn’t It Time Your Pool Became an Asset Instead of a Headache?

      Frequently Asked Questions

How much can I save with a variable-speed pump?

Most homeowners save $50-$150 per month on electricity compared to single-speed pumps. Exact savings depend on your current pump, electricity rates, and filtration schedule. Variable-speed pumps typically pay for themselves in 2-3 years through energy savings.

Is salt water better than chlorine?

Salt pools still use chlorine. A salt generator produces chlorine continuously from dissolved salt rather than requiring manual addition. Benefits include more consistent chlorine levels and water that’s gentler on skin and eyes. The salt level (about 3,000 ppm) is low and barely detectable.

      What does pool automation control?

Comprehensive automation can control pumps, heaters, lights, salt systems, water features, and spa jets. You can operate equipment from your phone, set schedules, and create scenes that activate multiple features at once. Specific capabilities depend on which system you install.

How long does pool equipment last?

Variable-speed pumps typically last 8-12 years. Filters last 5-10 years, depending on type. Gas heaters last 8-12 years, heat pumps 10-15 years. Salt cells need replacement every 3-7 years. Automation panels last 10-15 years or more. Proper installation and maintenance extend equipment life.

Can I add automation to my existing pool?

Yes. Automation can be retrofitted to most pools. We assess your current equipment, determine compatibility, and install controls that work with what you have or recommend equipment upgrades that integrate with the new system.

What’s the difference between gas heaters and heat pumps?

Gas heaters warm water quickly using natural gas or propane. Heat pumps extract warmth from the air and are more efficient but slower. Heat pumps are less effective in cold weather. Gas heaters work well for spas or on-demand heating. Heat pumps work well for maintaining temperature over time.

Do I need a new equipment pad?

Not always. If your current pad is in good condition and appropriately sized, we can install new equipment on the existing pad. If the pad is damaged or too small, replacement may be necessary.

What maintenance does this equipment require?

Variable-speed pumps need occasional basket cleaning. Filters need periodic cleaning or media replacement, depending on type. Salt cells need occasional inspection and cleaning. Automation systems need minimal maintenance. We explain specific requirements for each piece of equipment we install.
